I’ve been doing a bit of digging through my bookmarks in my Google Chrome web browser, and I’ve noticed that I’ve bookmarked about twenty resourceful links to help monetize a website in particular, and I thought to my self, why not make a blog post out of it? Sure why not. So, out of that twenty sites that I bookmarked, I picked 11 I thought were important and so, I would like to share.

Making money online used to pretty much require you to have your own Web site, products to sell and some marketing savvy. But a new generation of dot-coms have arisen that will pay you for what you know and who you know without you having to be a web designer or a marketing genius. But it’s hard to tell hype from the real deal. I did a search on “make money online” and “making money online”, and much of the information out there is just promoting various infoproducts, mostly about Internet marketing. I see why people sometimes ask, “Is anyone making money online besides Internet marketing experts?”

So I put together a list of business opportunities with legitimate companies that:

Pay cash, not just points towards rewards or a chance to win money

Don’t require you to have your own Web domain or your own products

Don’t involve any hard-selling

Aren’t just promoting more Internet marketing

Give a good return on your time investment

In the interest of objectivity, none of the links below are affiliate links, and none of them have paid or provided any other consideration for their presence here. These are legitimate companies with business models that allow you to get paid for a wide range of activities.Help friends find better jobs.

Sites like ReferEarns, Zyoin, Who Do You Know For Dough?, Bohire and WiseStepp connect employers with prospective employees, many of whom are already employed and not actively job-hunting, via networking – the people who know these qualified candidates. Rewards for referring a candidate who gets hired range from $50 on up to several thousand dollars – not chump change. If you know a lot of job-seekers (and who doesn’t these days?), this is a great way to break into the recruiting business with no overhead.

Connect suppliers with buyers.

Referral fees are a common practice in business, but they haven’t been used much in online networking sites because there was no way to track them. Sites like Salesconx, InnerSell and uRefer now provide that. Vendors set the referral fees they’re willing to pay (and for what), and when the transaction happens, you get paid. uRefer also allows merchants to set up referral programs for introductions and meetings, as well as transactions.

Write.

A growing number of sites will pay for your articles or blog posts. Associated Content and Helium will “pay for performance” based on page views for just about anything you want to write about. Articles on specific topics they’re looking for can earn direct payments up to about $200. The rates are probably low for established writers, but if you’re trying to break into the field and have time on your hands, they’re a great way to start. Also, a lot of companies are looking for part-time bloggers. They may pay per post or on a steady contract. Our Weblogs Guide posts blogging jobs weekly in the forum.

Start your own blog.

You don’t have to have your own Web site, or install blogging software, or even figure out how to set up the advertising. At Blogger you can set up a blog for free in less than five minutes without knowing a thing about web design, and Blogger even automates setting up Google AdSense so you can make money off your blog by displaying ads and getting paid when people click on the ads. To make even more money from it, set up an affiliate program (see below) for books, music, etc., and insert your affiliate links whenever you refer to those items. You’ll have to get a lot of traffic to become a six-figure blogger, but pick an interesting topic, write well, tell all your friends, and you’re off to a good start.

Related: Monetizing Your Blog

Create topical resource hubs.

Are you an expert on a particular niche topic? Can you put together an overview of the topic and assemble some of the best resources on the topic from around the web? Then you can create topical hubs and get paid through sites like Squidoo, HugPages and Google Knol. Payments are based on a combination of ad revenue and affiliate fees. You’ll get higher rates doing it on your own, but these sites have a built-in supply of traffic and tools to make content creation easier.

Advertise other people’s products.

If you already have a Web site or a blog, look for vendors that offer related but non-competing products and see if they have an affiliate program. Stick to familiar products and brands – they’re easier to sell. To promote those products:

Place simple text or graphical ads in appropriate places on your site

Include links to purchase products you review or recommend in a blog, discussion forum or mailing list you control

Create a dedicated sales page or Web site to promote a particular product

They all work – it just depends on how much time you have to spend on it and your level of expertise with Web design and marketing.Related: How to Really Make Money on the Internet With an Amazon.com Affiliate Site

Microstock photography.

You don’t have to be a professional photographer to sell your photos for money. People are constantly in need of stock photography for websites, presentations, brochures and so on, and are willing to pay for the right image. People generally search for images on stock photography sites by keywords, not by photographer, so you have the same chance as anyone else of having your image picked. Just be careful that you don’t have images of trademarked brands, copyrighted art or people’s faces that are readily identifiable (unless you have a model release), but just about anything else is fair game, and I promise – you’d be amazed what people need pictures of, so don’t make any assumptions. If it’s a decent photo, upload it. Some sites to get you started include Fotolia, ShutterStock, Dreamstime and iStockphoto. The great thing about this is that it’s truly “set it and forget it”.

The above list is by no means comprehensive, but it highlights some of the new and interesting ways to make money online without investing any money, without having a product of your own, and without having expert sales and marketing skills. Most of all, unlike taking surveys or getting paid to read e-mail, the potential return on your time investment is substantial.

Are you looking for a legitimate way to make money online? Maybe you want some extra spending money. Or perhaps you need the money to pay bills. Either way, getting paid for filling out simple surveys can be a fun and lucrative way to earn that extra cash.

In fact, there’s quite a lot of money to be had — and the cool thing is that you can earn it in your spare time. Any time you can spare a few minutes — or a few hours, you can make money.

It’s easy too. Once you have signed up with the right survey companies, all you have to do is check your email and pick the best surveys, and you’re off to earning money every time you fill in the blanks.

Want to get started right away? Visit Legit Online Surveys and enter your details and you will start receiving surveys to fill out and start earning. Click Here to start now!

And if you’re wondering why anyone would care about your opinion, let alone pay you good money for it, read on. There’s a reason why you can make real money with surveys:

Countless companies, including the largest international corporations, are desperately trying to find out what consumers want. And they’re willing to pay a whole lot of money for market research.

But they still have a problem. How can they connect with you, the consumer? It’s not all that easy, so they hire survey companies to help them find out what people think about their products and what they would be most likely to buy in the future. They also want to know what it will take to get people to buy…

And if you sign up, you’ll become part of that cutting edge market research.

It’s really cool. You may have the chance to find out about new products long before they actually become available in stores. You might get to play video games that haven’t even been released yet. And you might get to watch trailers for movies that haven’t even finished filming yet. And the best part…. you get paid for your “efforts.”

That’s because paying for you to take surveys is the quickest and easiest way for a company to get the information and feedback they need. And believe it or not, even when they pay thousands of people several dollars each for fill it in even one quick survey, it’s cheaper (and more effective) for them than many other forms of market research. And it’s way cheaper than making a costly mistake.

Remember the NEW Coke? What a disaster that was! And it would have been so easy to prevent. All they had to do was ask people what they thought of the idea and they would have known better than to mess with a tried and true formula.

But noooo. The company executives thought they knew what was best — and they fell flat on their face.

So surveys can be essential for a company’s survival. And they know it and are willing to pay for it. So why not let them pay you?

Now you’re probably wondering what it will take to connect with those big companies and get paid for sharing your opinion?

All you have to do is find the right surveys… And the easiest way to do that is to join a club that specializes in helping consumers like you and me to hook up with the surveys that pay the most money.

And the best one of those clubs we have found is a website called SurveyMastermind. Unlike a lot of other survey sites out there, it’s a Free Service. Not only that, but they also specialize in connecting you with surveys that actually pay. And as soon as you join and sign up with the companies they recommend, you will start receiving surveys to fill out… and start earning.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is making money with surveys difficult?

Not at all. You just need to be able to answer a few simple questions and fill in some details, and you’re ready to earn a nice income from taking online surveys and helping companies with their market research.

How do I pick the right survey sites?

Start by joining a survey club that will connect you with the best sites. After all, how much you can earn will depend on which survey sites you sign up for. Some of those sites will pay you money every time you fill out a survey, while others use more of a sweepstakes approach, and offer cash and prize draws to those who fill out their surveys.

SurveyMastermind will help you find survey sites that pay cash for surveys. Many other sites mostly send you surveys that offer prizes and points, so you need to be careful.

No matter which site you sign up for, though, they ultimately all work the same way. You tell them your basic information and then they start sending you surveys whenever they become available.

However, the quality of the surveys you get can vary widely. That’s why SurveyMastermind is so helpful. They pre-screen the actual survey sites for you and steer you to the ones that pay the most, and away from those that just waste your time. Click Here to start now!

How will it work?

First you join SurveyMastermind . Then, you’ll get access to a list of pre-screened survey companies which in turn will send you the surveys.

You sign up for several of those companies and fill out your profile with as much information as you can. This will help the site in deciding which surveys to send to whom. Click Here to start now!

Do all survey companies pay cash?

No they don’t. SurveyMastermind will be sure to steer you towards survey companies that have lots of cash-paying surveys and away from those that don’t. Click to start !

How much can I earn?

The amount you will receive for each survey or market research exercise varies between sites and countries, and it depends on the amount of time each one will take you. One site pays between $4 and $50 which is about average, although most surveys will be at the lower end of the scale. Of course, you can fill in several surveys per hour, so the earnings can add up. Start now!

Can I answer the surveys any time I want?

Yes you can. However, you should know that you’re usually competing with other survey takers. Each survey may only need to be answered by a set number of people and they often send it to more than is needed to make sure they get enough replies. The sooner you can complete each one and send it back, the better – and the faster your money will add up too. Click to start !

Is there anything else I need to know?

Make sure you set up a new email account purely for use with your survey sites. After all, you will be getting lots of emails to plough through, and you don’t want them all going into your normal accounts. That way, you won’t have to sort through them to find your personal email. You also don’t risk missing a potentially lucrative survey in an inbox full of personal email. Start Survey Now!

Microsoft’s advanced database creation and maintenance software. It is very popular among developers who maintain online databases with Windows NT.

Active Channel
An Active Channel is frequently updated information residing on a Web server. Through a CDF (Channel Definition Language) capable browser, users can subscribe to the channel.

ActiveX
A set of properties that define how applications are to share information with each other. These properties are known as controls.

AJAX
AJAX or Asynchronous JavaScript and XML is a scripting technique for silently loading new data from the server.

Anchor
In HTML anchors are created with the .. construct. The opening A tag of a source anchor has an HREF (hypertext reference) attribute giving the destination in the form of a URL – usually a whole node or “page”.

Anonymous FTP
A method of uploading or downloading files using the File Transfer protocol (FTP). Primarily used to download public files, the user can login using their e-mail as a username, and “anonymous” as a password.

Apache
One of the world’s most popular Web server programs, Apache was built by a group of open-source programmers and is often used because of its outstanding performance, strong security features and the fact that it is free.

ASP
Short for “Active Server Pages” ASP is a specification developed by Microsoft for developing dynamic Web pages. All pages that use this specification use the .ASP file extension.

Auto reply
By activating the auto responder, a sender receives an automatic response of your choice. For example, if the automatic reply is activated on contact@yourdomain.comThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , all emails sent to this address will be returned to the sender along with a message of your choice. You can then send another response.

Automatic image resizing
The system automatically shrinks images so that an image only has to be uploaded once and is then available in various views (thumbnail, normal, large, etc).

Backbone
A high-speed line or series of connections that forms a major pathway within a network. The term is relative as a backbone in a small network will likely be much smaller than many non-backbone lines in a large network. In general, the better the backbone of the hosting company, the better the availability of the web sites that run on their computers.

Backups
Web hosts back up data on their servers. Many host packages offer backups every 24 hours. This is supposed to prevent the loss of data should something happen to the server. . If you think you may need to restore old data in case of a disaster, it may make sense to choose a hosting company that performs regular backups.

Bandwidth
An amount of data which can be transmitted in a time period over a communications channel. Usually expressed in kilobits per second (kbps).

Browser
This is the client software that displays (interprets) the HTML code it receives from the server. All browsers work slightly different and one may not display the pages correctly if the code was developed exclusively for another browser. Today the two main browsers are Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape.

Cgi-Bin
A directory on the server where the executable CGI scripts reside.

Co-located Hosting
A method of hosting where client-owned hardware is located at hosting provider’s facility. Co-location facilities offer the customer a secure place to physically house their hardware as opposed to locating it in their offices or warehouses – where the potential for fire, theft, or vandalism is greater.

Cold Fusion
A web application server, ColdFusion is a server-side scripting language web development tool. It uses HTML-like tags called CFML, which allow back-end ODBC database connectivity, data manipulation and validation within web pages.

Control Panel
Especially valuable for dedicated or co-located solutions, many web hosts offer control panels that allow hosting clients to fully configure and modify their server from any Web-enabled computer.

Cookie
A Cookie is a piece of data that is saved in the user’s browser by the web server. It is used to customize user’s browsing experience.

Cron
A UNIX command used to schedule jobs to be executed at some time in the future, typically on a periodic or regular basis. When used as a daemon process, the cron runs continuously and executes in response to specified events.

CSS
An extension to HTML to allow styles, e.g. colour, font, size to be specified for certain elements of a hypertext document. Style information can be included in-line in the HTML file or in a separate CSS file (which can then be easily shared by multiple HTML files). Multiple levels of CSS can be used to allow selective overriding of styles.

D

Daily Backups
Most hosting organizations employ a system whereby a second copy of a client’s data is created and maintained on a second medium (usually a disk or a tape). This second copy will be deployed on the server if the original is corrupted due to a hardware or software failure.

Data Center
A data center is a facility which houses a large amount of electronic equipment, such as communications equipment, Web servers or power backup systems. A data center is usually maintained by an organization to handle the data necessary for its operations.

Data Transfer
The amount of data which you can transfer with your account in a given month. The data refers to images, text or anything that the server must transfer to a user’s web browser. This data limit is typically calculated in GB with 1 GB amounting to 30,000 – 50,000 page views.

Dedicated Hosting
Dedicated hosting options allow organizations of any size to rent pre-configured, state-of-the-art equipment and connectivity from the service provider. While a virtual host requires you to share bandwidth and storage space with other clients, dedicated hosting gives you the opportunity to have an entire server for your exclusive use. – and essentially exercise 100% control over your Web presence.

Disk Space
The amount of hard drive space on the server, available to your hosted websites.

djbdns
A simple and secure Domain Name Service (DNS) implementation. It was created by Daniel J. Bernstein because of his frustrations with repeated BIND security holes. A $500 unclaimed prize is still available to the first person to find a security hole in djbdns.

DNS
A Domain Name Server is a program running on a server which automatically translates domain names from http://www.xxxxx.com/ into their correct TCP/IP addresses, eg 69.105.15.99.

Domain Name
An Internet address in alphabetic form, also known as a personalized web address. Domain names must have at least two parts: left side which names the organization, and right side which identifies the country.

Domain Parking
For every domain name registered, registrars require primary, secondary name servers and IP Numbers to go with it. Domain names must be linked to this information (address) for it to be valid. When registered, some do not yet have Name Server information associated with it, so registrars will offer ‘domain parking’ on their servers for the time being.

Download
To transfer files or data from one computer to another. To download means “to receive,” to upload means “to send.”

Firewall
A special kind of gateway, usually software-based, used to block potentially dangerous network traffic. Most Firewalls work as packet filters, which compare passing packets to a set of filter rules.

FrontPage
A software program created by Microsoft that can create and manage Web pages.

Frontpage Extensions
The set of files that provide FrontPage-based Web sites with extended functionality, such as multi-user and remote authoring support, search features, forms and usage analysis. In order for you to use all of the features that come with Microsoft® FrontPage®, FrontPage Extensions must be installed for your account.

FTP
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a common way of transferring files between Internet sites. Through FTP, you can login to another Internet site to retrieve and/or send files. Before the advent of the World Wide Web, FTP was widely used and originally used from a text-only interface.

IMAP compatible
Internet Message Access Protocol. An Internet email protocol which allows access to your email from any IMAP compatible mail program. Your mail stays on the server space while working with it, unlike POP mail which is downloaded into your mail program.

IP Address
(Internet Protocol) Address is a unique number made up of 4 parts separated by dots (eg 165.113.245.2) used to represent a computer on the Internet. Every machine on the Internet has a unique IP address. Most machines also have one or more Domain Names that are easier for people to remember.

J

Java Servlet
While similar to a Java applet, a Java servlet runs on the server instead of the client side. Increasingly popular as an alternative to CGI programs, a Java servlet can stay in the browser’s memory to fulfill multiple requests – unlike a CGI that must be restarted with each new operation and can only fulfill one request at a time.

JSP
JavaServer Pages. A server-side technology, JavaServer pages are an extension to the Java servlet technology that was developed by Sun. JSPs have dynamic scripting capability that works in tandem with HTML code, separating the page logic from the static elements — the actual design and display of the page. Embedded in the HTML page, the Java source code and its extensions help make the HTML more functional, being used in dynamic database queries, for example. JSPs are not restricted to any specific platform or server.

Lighttpd
A web server known to be fast, secure, standards-compliant, flexible, and optimized for speed-critical environments. Compared to other Web servers, it maintains a low memory footprint and a light CPU load. Lighttpd is open source and its speed makes it suitable for servers suffering from load problems, or for serving static media separately from dynamic content.

Linux
Linux is an open source operating system within the Unix family. It was designed to give pc users a free or very low-cost operating system comparable to traditional and usually more expensive UNIX systems. Its robustness and availability has made it popular in the open source community and among commercial application developers.

Load Balancing
When a single server cannot handle the number of visitors to a site, load balancing divides the work of one server to one or more additional ones. By load balancing, more work can get done in the same amount of time and allows faster processing.

Mac OS
The official name of the Macintosh operating system.

Mailing List
A discussion group that occurs via mass email distributions. Mailing lists are usually maintained by individuals utilizing list server software. List servers maintain a list of email addresses to be used for the mailing list. Subscribing and unsubscribing to the list is accomplished by sending a properly formatted email message to the list server.

Managed Hosting
A form of hosting where the provider monitors and maintains the infrastructure on behalf of the client. A managed host procures, configures, installs, and maintains the necessary servers, firewalls, and other devices that the customer’s architecture requires, including the operating system, and any backend database and server support required to make the site functional (such as Oracle and Apache). Click here to visit our Managed Showcase.

Merchant Account
A merchant account is a relationship with a bank, in which the bank allows you to charge people’s credit cards for goods and/or services you provide. The bank is responsible for debiting customer’s funds and depositing it into your account.

ODBC
An abbreviation for the Microsoft Open Database Connectivity API, a set of functions that provide access to client-server RDBMSs, desktop database files, text files, and Excel worksheet files through ODBC drivers. Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 95 use 32-bit ODBC 2.5. ODBC most commonly is used to connect to client/server databases, such as Microsoft SQL Server.

Oracle
A relational database management system by Oracle Corporation, which runs on more than 80 platforms. Oracle’s relational database was the first to support the SQL language, which has since become the industry standard. Historically, Oracle has targeted high-end workstations and minicomputers as the server platforms to run its database systems.

Real Audio/Video
A software solution to provide sound and movies on a web page.

Reseller Hosting
Reseller hosting is the provision of web hosting services to third-party companies that in turn act as web hosts for other organizations – acting as the host for the client site and serving its pages to users. Many resellers augment their hosting packages with Web design and management services in order to provide additional value to their clients.

Root Access
For UNIX- and Linux-based security, system administrators can set up unique security access constraints or “root” accounts. Access to these accounts is known as Root Access, allowing full access to machines, full manipulation of the file system and administration of current running processes.

RSS
Short for Really Simple Syndication, RSS is a protocol or an XML application, which provides an open method of syndicating and aggregating Web content. Through RSS files you can produce data feeds that supply headlines, links, and article summaries from your Web site directly to users, via a news aggregator. A news aggregator is software specifically designed to receive RSS feeds.

Ruby on Rails
An open source Web application framework written in Ruby, a dynamically typed programming language similar to Python, Smalltalk, and Perl. Its focus is simplicity, enabling real-world applications to be produced in less code than other frameworks and with a minimum of configuration.

SaaS
Short for Software as a Service, SaaS is a software delivery approach that provides access to software and its functions remotely as a Web-based service. Because the software is hosted remotely, users don’t need to invest in additional hardware. SaaS is sometimes referred to as hosted applications.

Secure Server
Any web server that supports a major security protocol – like SSL – to encrypt messages to protect them against intrusion.

Shadow Nameservers
A shadow nameserver is a nameserver that has been labeled as yours (the reseller’s) despite the fact it actually belongs to your Web hosting provider. This ensures that domains located on your server are listed as “ns.yourservername.com” instead of “ns.yourprovidersname.com”. Also see NAMESERVER below.

Shared Hosting
Sometimes called “Virtual Hosting” this service provides a customer with a limited amount of server space to create their web site. Bandwidth and storage space is distributed among many clients, who all “share” the same physical server.

Shell
The outermost layer of a program. Operating systems and applications typically provide an easy-to-use shell program to make interaction with the system easier. A shell may be a GUI system that translates user selections into the appropriate command-line prompts. A number of web hosting solutions provide the user with shell access to the server, which reduces the technical knowledge required to configuring critical systems and applications.

Shockwave
A technology developed by Macromedia, Inc. that enables Web pages to include multimedia elements. Shockwave supports audio, animation, video, and even user actions such as mouse clicks and roll-overs. It runs on all Windows and Macintosh platforms.

SMTP
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol . A protocol used to send e-mail on the Internet. SMTP is a set of rules regarding the interaction between a program sending e-mail and a program receiving e-mail.

SQL
Structured Query Language – SQL is a standard interactive and programming language for getting information from and updating a database. Although SQL is both an ANSI and an ISO standard, many database products support SQL with proprietary extensions to the standard language.

SSH
Developed by SSH Communications Security Ltd, Secure Shell protects a network from attacks such as IP spoofing, IP source routing, and DNS spoofing. Any login session or transmission of passwords to the web server is encrypted, making it almost impossible for an outsider to collect this information.

SSL
The Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a commonly used protocol which protects transmissions on the Internet by encrypting data in a user’s web browser. The data is then transferred from the browser to the website in this encrypted format, unencrypted by the web server software, and then used by the website.

Store Builder
An online application that allows a hosting client to quickly create an online storefront and catalog – without advanced programming knowledge.

SubDomain
A subdomain is a subdivision of a larger domain. For example, “mail.tophosts.com” is a subdomain of “tophosts.com.”

T

TLD
Top-level Domain TLDs are the names at the top of the DNS naming hierarchy. They appear in domain names as the string of letters following the last (rightmost) “.”, such as “net” in “www.example.net”. The administrator for a TLD controls what second-level names are recognized in that TLD. The administrators of the “root domain” or “root zone” control what TLDs are recognized by the DNS. Commonly used TLDs include .com, .net, .edu, .jp, .de, etc.

TLS
Transport Layer Security (TLS) ensures privacy between communicating applications and users on the Internet, ensuring no third party can eavesdrop or tamper with messages. TLS enables a server and client to authenticate each other and negotiates an encryption algorithm and cryptographic keys before data is exchanged.

Virtual Private Server
A technology platform that allows a hosting provider to partition a single server into multiple “virtual” machines. Like a shared solution, the cost of hardware and software is distributed across many clients, which enables small businesses to take advantage of dedicated functionality for about the same monthly cost as a high-end shared solution.

These days it seems like web hosting providers are a dime a dozen. Just type the word “hosting” into Google and you’ll get thousands upon thousands of company listings. Of course, just like with anything, there is a good and a bad side to this. The good side is that you, the customer, have thousands of web hosting providers at your fingertips all wanting you to web host with them. What does this mean for you? Well, it means you’ll have no trouble finding a cheap web hosting package. The downside is that with so many web hosting companies selling and saying the same thing, it’s very difficult to decide which company to choose.

Four Steps to Choosing The Best Web Hosting Provider

In order to make a smart decision, many factors must come into play. Choosing a web hosting provider can prove to be less overwhelming if you follow the below four guidelines. Doing so ensures that you are safe from unwanted web hosting difficulties. Web hosting is something that you should just purchase and forget about – you have too many important things on your mind already.

#1) Never Let Your WebHosting Provider Have Control Over Your Domain Name

This is website suicide, and unfortunately many people fall victim to this tiny oversight and are unsuccessful because of it. If your web hosting provider says that they will register your domain name for you in their company name, then you have a problem. Your domain name is just that – yours. It is your identity on the internet and without it you are lost. Always register your own domain name yourself via the web hosting provider. Once the domain name is in your business/personal name, you are safe. A domain name has nothing to do with web hosting, and if you switch web hosting providers, you can take the domain name with you. Many people don’t realize this and, in turn, have their domain name taken hostage by their web hosting provider when they decide to switch servers.

#2) Never Trust Web Hosting Providers Who Give You Free Hosting

Free web hosting is only good for people who could care less about their website. Sure your website will appear online for awhile, but it may disappear at any time and there is nothing you can do about it. If you are starting an online business, then you need web hosting services offered by a reputable company. There are very inexpensive web hosting packages available today which give you complete control over your account and domain name. This way you will never lose traffic and business because you rely on a free website hosting provider. Don’t fall victim to penny pinching!

#3) Never Choose a Web Hosting Provider That’s Lacking in Customer Support

It would take many long hours of heavy studying to understand fully all of the issues of web hosting platforms. If you’re new to the web hosting game, you could be in a lot of hot water if your web hosting provider does not supply you with unlimited advice, manuals and help with technical difficulties. Always keep in mind that when you pay a web hosting company, you are paying for the actual hosting of your website, but also for customer and technical support. The best way to find out about the quality of support that a company offers is to call them yourself and to read client testimonials and see what others have to say about them.

#4) Control of Server for Web Hosting Provider

Many web hosting providers on the internet are simply reselling server space for another larger hosting company. If you choose a hosting company where this is the case, make sure that they have moderate control over what happens to your website on the server. If you choose a web hosting provider with their own servers, then you do not need to worry about this. If your website is straightforward and your plan for it is not overly complex, it does not really matter if you choose a company that resells or not. However, be aware of this because the hosting company having control of their servers is important if you plan on getting into complex interactions.

If your follow these four guidelines, you will find the best web hosting provider in no time!

Today I want to show you 5 more ways to get traffic to your blog with LinkedIn. Before you do that make sure that your LinkedIn profile is optimized by reading our previous post: 5 Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Blog From LinkedIn.

Once you’ve got your profile optimized, you can come back here and check out 4 more ways to drive traffic to Your Blog From LinkedIn:

Method #1: Get the Right Positioning

With any of the techniques that we’ll be sharing it’s important that you take the time to start building a solid profile on LinkedIn. If you don’t have a solid profile setup in the first place then you’ll be missing out on new business and opportunities.

The main point here is that you want to appear “open for business” by setting up a profile that clearly defines how you help others. That way you’re more likely to get higher click throughs and interest in your blog.

The very first thing to do is to become an open networker which means that anyone can send you a message and invite you to connect. This is really important as some of the default settings on LinkedIn don’t always allow others to contact you. Make sure to change your profile settings so that you’re an open networker so that you appear “open for business.”

Method #2: Add More Connections – Groups

This should be something that you’re doing on a daily basis. You want to continually make an effort to go out and connect with other people in your industry on a regular basis. Some of these people will be your clients while others will be people you can network with in your industry.

The point here is that the more Connections you have, the more eye balls you get on your profile. So when you post an update or publish a new blog post, more of your connections will see it.

One way to Connect is just by interacting with others in your industry in Groups. You can post your questions and even reply to others. The more you participate in these groups the more likely you will get noticed. As you get to know others in the group, you can ask them to connect.

Method #3: Add More “High Profile” Connections

If you go to My Network and see Network Statistics you’ll see how many connections you have. In addition, you’ll see how many people are in your 2nd and 3rd Tier of Connections. Each time you add new connections, you increase your exposure to your Connections as well as to the people you connect with.

To increase your Connections and your 2nd and 3rd Tier Connections make a point of connecting to people who have a high profile. These could be other blog owners or anyone who is a person of influence in your industry and has a lot of followers.

They might not know you from a hole in the ground so here’s an easy way to Connect with them on LinkedIn. It’s always a good idea to include an introduction message so that these high profile connections know who you are.

Let’s say you want to connect with BlogToGuideYou. You could do that by introducing yourself and saying, ” Hey Admin, I’ve been an avid reader of your blog and Newsletter for over a year. I’d like to add you to my professional network on LinkedIn. Your name.”

This is much more effective than just using the default message because now BlogToGuideYou has an idea of how I came to find his profile on LinkedIn.

Method #4: Add Your RSS Feed to News Groups

Another simple, but really effective way to get more people to your blog is by adding your blog articles to Groups. If you took our advice from our previous post, you’ll have joined 5-10 Linked Groups by now.

Each time you join one of these groups, you want to add your article to the Groups News section. Now you can join up to 50 Groups on LinkedIn so the more groups you join, the more articles you can submit and the more often users will be viewing your blog posts.

Method #5: Use Answers by Thinking Outside of the Box

There is a section in LinkedIn called Answers. This is a great place to get more exposure to your profile by answering other peoples questions.

It’s by asking your own question. And the way you can do this is by thinking of a question in your industry that will attract attention and interest. As an example I have a personal growth blog so I asked the question:

“If you Don’t Believe in the Law of Attraction, does it still work?”

This question generated a lot of interest and got a lot of answers.

When you use this technique properly, you get a lot of people commenting and submitting answers to your question. And the more people that answer your question, the more eye balls you get on your profile and the more traffic to your blog.
